Popcorn Stand Coming to Town

''What are the degrees in making popcorn?'', asked the reporter.

''To make popcorn you need to have the temperature around 180*C, that's around 356*F. The hot air gets to the liquid inside the kernel and turns it to a gas. That is what expands the kernel'', said Mr. Cleveland.

‘’Does the outside temperature affect the popcorn temperature’’

‘’No, storage temperature does not affect the number of kernels popped, the hot air transfers to the cooler kernels.

When enough hot air heats the kernel it pops,’’ said Cleveland.

‘’What is the change while popcorn is popping?’’

‘’The phase change is vaporization. The liquid in the kernel changes to a gas, and that causes the kernel to expand and pop,’’ explained Bob C.
