My main job is to preform cellular respiration. I'm working every minute of your life. I produce approximately 95 percent of the energy in your body. In a typical cell there will be 1000 to 2000 of me in them. Although I'm not in mature blood cells. I convert oxygen, and the sugar, fat, and protein from foods to useable energy. I am in the muscle cells, and the muscle cells are continually used to move the body, so they have the most mitochondria because of the large energy requirement.
